Boucher- MNA Judiciary Council Decision Upheld by Courts

“The Alberta Court validated what our own Métis self-government institution, the MNA Judiciary Council, correctly confirmed back in December 2007. Namely, Métis leaders are elected to serve the interests of the Métis people, not their own self interest,” said President Poitras.

MNA Press RELEASE

“It is now time that all members of the MNA Provincial Council focus their attention on doing what we were elected to do,” President Poitras added. “We must now come together to push forward on our Métis rights agenda and to help Métis children, families and communities.”

“This fiasco brokered by Trevor, has landed Mr Boucher directly where he deserves to be. A person with absolutely no understanding of the MNA bylaws, or the Provincial Council, or executive committee procedure, may have made an “error”. This, however was not an error but an intentional undermining of the Council’s process. The agreement between Mr Boucher, and MNC was already inked, while in the background Mr Gladue was scrambing to pull in support of other Council members in order to “fax” a motion in support to the President. The splits over this issue started at Provincial Council level, and have spread throughout the Nation. Its definately taken some time, and President Poitras observed the protocal of not discussing details at the Assembly, or anywhere for that matter, while in the meantime Mr Gladue, has utilized all his resources, churning out Bogus press releases, disguised as official documents, including APTN to present his position, and support of the actions of Mr Boucher and the Metco agreement. I hope President Poitras and the Metis Nation of ALberta do a press release on APTN! I hope Rick and the others finally realize that they have been manipulated for Mr Gladue’s political purposes.
Through all of this, President Poitras, has demonstrated courage to maintain her position, her accountability and the transparency of “the elected leaders” has been questioned, and all the while, the issue has been first, before the Judiciary Council, then the Court of Queen’s Bench. You are to be commended, President Poitras, for continuing to stand up for Truth.”
