Message from Bev Weber Region 3 Vice President

Tag: Local 845, Metis Nation of Alberta, News, Region 3Bev Weber @ 8:06 pm

The Metis people of Region 3 have placed their confidence in me, and I will work respectably and with the knowledge, that decisions need to be made, that acknowledge the wellbeing of each individual Metis in Region 3 and in the Metis Nation of Alberta.

As I campaigned, I was aware that there are many Metis for whom the public unrest and upheaval within our nation, over the past term particularly, was very painful.  People in general have been losing hope in our elected leaders, the process, and questioning the meaning of their membership in the MNA.  This has been shown in some regions by dismal results at the polls.

I believe, we who will surround the table have the task to reestablish Pride within the hearts of the people and advance the long overlooked right of each individual, given by the Creator, to respect and honor of the Spirit within each of us.

This work will be accomplished by acknowledging that we, Metis are a passionate people, and we have required that strength and passion to have survived the journey thus far, with our Culture intact, and that strength and passion must now be directed toward establishing a united voice and improving communication and understanding within the membership of the MNA.

I am honored to have had the support of the voters, many of whom have not had the opportunity to get to know me yet.  I respect their confidence in me, and look at their choice as a responsibility to our Nation, not a personal right.

It is neccesary that I step down as Local 845 President, and Warren Fay will assume the position until the Local election this spring.  Please give Warren your support and remain involved with the Local.

Bev Weber

Region 3 Vice President
