Edmonton Meeting March 8 2008

Tag: Local 845, Metis Nation of Alberta, NewsBev Weber @ 9:07 am

It appears that accross our Nation people are calling for the removal of Joe Chodzicki and Trevor Gladue. At Medicine Hat’s meeting the same results. A resounding 96% voted for the removal of Joe and Trevor.

In any event there will be an important meeting March 8th in Edmonton at the Friendship Center, 101 st and 112 ave @ 10:00 A.M.

Some of the topics wil be electoral boundary changes and the new constitution. There will be comments from the floor on any other topics that the people want to discuss or seek information on.

  1. Bev Weber says:

Hello friends, and fellow Métis, Regional Council elected representatives, and Local communities…

After attending and observing at the Provincial Council meeting called by Audrey in January, I felt it was important to “send a message”. Local 845 Community agreed. It is important that each of us that are aware of the true facts leading up to the fractured state of Provincial Council attribute the issue to Mr Gladue, who has misrepresented the facts, primarily brokering the deal with MNC for Region 1 without the awareness of our President Audrey Poitras. It is Mr Gladue who openly pursues APTN to broadcast his misrepresentations of the facts, and it is Mr Gladue who is disrespecting the Judiciary Council decision regarding Rick Boucher and conflict of interest. It is Mr Gladue, through the Foundation? of Métis Matters who has a platform to campaign and slur the intentions of the Métis Nation of ALberta Leaders, and those on Provincial Council with integrity. It is Mr Gladue who has and continues to influence the unrest in our Provincial organization. Let us deal with the source. Surely Mr GLadue has not acted in the best interest of the Métis Nation of Alberta.

If there is not enough proof of these behaviors that have led to Local 845 not wanting his representation on Provincial Council for their local community, and sending forth a motion of non confidence, If there is are not enough persons with “inside” factual information to get this issue of Mr Gladue to Judiciary Council,

then I implore you, have your Locals act, under the bylaws, to have their own meetings, and put this issue to the people.

Barriers are, there is not enough time…our Locals don’t know whats going on…(tell them), Not enough will vote in favor…You won’t know unless its put to the people.

It won’t make a difference anyway? How do we know that!

A Proud Métis making a difference,

    Bev Weber

Local 845 President, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta

Awareness is the first step to positive change.
