Métis Local 845 of Rocky Mountain House & Parks
The position is for 40 hours per week. High School students may work part time until end of school term then full time to Sept 1/2008
Location:
Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site
With the Project Coordinator, the Interpreter/Park Attendant will:
- work along side Parks Canada staff, Métis Local 845 and
members of the Friends of Rocky organization in the spirit of partnership
- take direction from the Project Coordinator.
- attend pretraining and orientation provided by Parks Canada:
- welcome guests to the Historic Site, orient them to the facilities
and to the Métis/Aboriginal history & culture of the fur trade period.
- deliver and/or conduct the daily delivery of cultural programming by
Métis craftspersons, elders, and performers,
- undertake light maintenance duties at Boat Launch Area, Campground
and Cultural Interpretive Area to a standard acceptable to Parks Canada
- research Metis history, (Rocky specific) and other related duties as may arise.
Qualifications:
Willingness to learn and deliver a Métis Cultural/Traditional experience to
tourists and park visitors
- experience in working with the public
- interest in Metis Traditional skills, History and Culture.
- good oral communications skills
- Alberta Drivers License, Bilingual (assets, not requirements)
- provide a police security clearance check
- good organizational and interpersonal skills, and
- personal initiative, and the ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
