Pincher Creek Meeting- Nonconfidence Trevor Gladue
Métis Nation Local ‘1880’ held their 21 day meeting to vote on the removal of Trevor Gladue and Joe Chodzicki from office this past Wednesday, February 27. Eighteen people came out; three spouses not eligible to vote, two Lifetime members from Medicine Hat not eligible to vote, eleven Lifetime members from Pincher Creek eligible to vote at the local community meeting; two Lifetime members arrived after the voting had ended, but supportive of the results which were, unanimous.
And once again I have the results of who voted in their last election and what the results were:
Pincher Creek had 10 people come out to vote in the 2005 election:
8 votes Trevor Gladue
2 votes Ephram Bouvier
6 votes Joe Chodzicki
4 votes Arlene Fraser
Three years later, the following results:
11 votes in favour of removing Trevor Gladue
11 votes in favour of removing Joe Chodzicki
I assisted in chairing the meeting so that their President Frances Riviere could cast her vote. Some very good questions came out of that meeting; like… What happened to all the money? Can we get it back? How do we make them accountable? Can criminal charges be laid? Is the government doing something about this? The grassroots are demanding answers, so don’t expect this issue to be swept under the carpet.

I am so pleased that there are so many Metis bloggers popping up from Alberta. Welcome aboard.
How many Metis are there in Rocky Mountain house ? From the results of the vote it appears only 14 MNA members bothered to show up for such a crucial vote. Is it voter apathy, low Metis pop. in the region, or just a lack of interest in Metis politics that made the members stay away ?

in regards to the numbers from Rocky Mountain House and Medicine Hat that voted to remove Joe Chodzicki and Trevor Gladue from office, I have the results from the last election that put them in power in the first place.
Rocky had 15 voters come out to the 2005 elections:
6 votes Trevor Gladue
9 votes Ephram Bouvier
10 votes Joe Chodzicki
5 votes Arlene Fraser
Medicine Hat had 25 voters come out to the 2005 elections:
14 votes Trevor Gladue
11 votes Ephram Bouvier
16 votes Joe Chodzicki
9 votes Arlene Fraser
So now three years later, we have the following results:
Rocky Mountain House had 14 voters come out to 21 day meeting to remove Trevor Gladue and Joe Chodzicki from office:
10 votes in favour of removing Trevor Gladue; 4 against
11 votes in favour of removing Joe Chodzicki; 3 against
Medicine Hat had 31 voters come out to their 21 day posted meeting (as chair, I could not cast my ballot, but if I could it would have been in favour of removal for both):
29 votes in favour of removing Trevor Gladue; 1 against
29 votes in favour of removing Joe Chodzicki; 1 against
Is it voter apathy, sure it is; mostly in my community people care about the services you provide for them, not in the politics of the Nation. Sad but true.

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article Pincher Creek Meeting- Nonconfidence Trevor Gladue, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
