To all Metis Nation of Alberta Members in Rocky Mountain House and area…The democratic process gives us each a voice and a vote at the Local level, and therefore, I would encourage each and every one of you to attend our upcoming meetings of Local 845. All Métis Nation of Alberta members in the Rocky Mountain House and surrounding vicinity, are welcome to attend meetings of Local 845 and have access to the Local because our mandate is to provide information, and discuss issues impacting the Métis in our area. You do not need to “join” the Local, you are automatically a member with a vote once you have an MNA membership. I would encourage you consider the Local a source of Information on any Provincial programs and initiatives offered Locally, Regionally and by our Provincial office.

Local 845 is where you can get the information you need, and bring your concerns forward. Of course, if you need information re Education, Scholarships, Bursaries, Labour Market Training or Information on membership, geneology and registries requirements, job opportunities for Metis Youth, summer student/National Park Interpretive Program, or any other inquiries, feel free to contact me between meetings.

If you have a child or grandchild interested in learning Metis Jigging and Traditional dancing, we are offering Lessons and Practice weekly in the Rocky Native Friendship Centre. Please call me for dates and times. We have 9 children enrolled and there is always room for more. The sessions run from 4-6pm and we are looking at Weds for 2008. There is no charge, and parents are welcome. In some cases we may be able to help out with transportation. This is offered to you with Grant funding from Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
